Many years ago, my soon to be husband spoke some words to me which I found difficult to believe. No one had ever told me this before or if they did, I really didn’t take the words in. Ray said to me, “You are beautiful.” Those words astonished me and at the time I wondered if he really meant them. However, as life went on and we got married, those words and many other ones were whispered in my ears many times. I remember one day waking up with Ray lying next to me staring at my face. As I opened my eyes, he told me he was just lying there thinking how beautiful I was! To be very honest, it took a long while until I really began to believe the words he spoke.
I wonder how many of us believe that we are beautiful. God has made each of us special, unique and beautiful. He looks at each one of us and says, “I love and value you – you are beautiful in my sight.” Do we really believe that this is true?
One thing that Ray struggled with for a long time in life was to know that God loved and valued him. The day he heard God whispering in his ear, “You are my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”, it changed his life for ever. As the words found a resting place in his heart, he dissolved into tears and he was transformed. At times throughout his life, he could hardly hold his tears back as he talked to others about the love of God. He was overwhelmed by gratitude that no matter what he had done in his past, he was loved, valued and forgiven. He was beautiful in God’s sight.
Today take time to sit in God’s presence and just ask him a question, “Lord, how do you see me?” Sit a while soaked in the presence of God and hear his voice whisper in your ear – “You are beautiful, you are loved, valued and are extremely precious to me!” His healing words will bring much joy as you begin to believe the truth he speaks. The truth is you are beautiful, loved, valued and so very precious in the sight of God. Woohoo!
