4th April 2017: Ringing The Bell

I’ve shared about this at this year’s Spiritual Health Weekends and in the new magazine, but it’s well worth sharing again.  In autumn 2016, I had all the ngm team (staff and interns) round at my house one morning so that we could sit and watch the film, The Intern, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.  Ray and I had seen it and had identified some things in it that we wanted to share with our team and implement within ngm.  One of the main things, was how every time they had a success, that they rang the old fire bell in the office and everyone stopped what they were doing to celebrate the achievement.  It seemed to help bring people together as one team, rather than as individual departments, so everyone rejoiced in the companies successes.

I suggested that we consider how we implement this practice in ngm, as the physical ringing of a bell could be quite disruptive in the main office and the team is spread out over a number of buildings.  So we created a Facebook group, which we’ve called Ringing the Bell.  This idea has been incredible and has encouraged unity so much.  Each time one of the departments within ngm has a new booking, or sees someone become a Christian, or we have sold books, CDs, tickets or whatever, then we post this news in the group and everyone rejoices and thanks God.  They then like the post and comment on it.  There isn’t a day that goes by, when we don’t have someone posting in the group, it’s such an encouragement and is also a great reminder to thank God for everything that he is doing in and through us.  Remember to 'Ring the Bell', when God answers your prayers, I think you’ll be surprised at how often you’re doing it.
