Prayer suggestions for Friday 27th March 2020

On 20th March, I called for a National Day of Prayer not only for the UK but for others who live further afield.  A few days after it was over, two friends contacted me and asked if I would do a National Prayer Day every Friday and asked if I would give some pointers each week for prayer.  After prayer, I took up the challenge of doing just that.  Please listen to my original video calling for prayer  if you haven’t heard it already – it sets the scene for what we would want to do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_w9dLCcSOY

PRAYER POINTS FOR FRIDAY 27th

  • Pray for our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson and his ministers. I wrote to our Prime Minister this week and told him that thousands of us all over the UK and beyond will be praying for him and the leaders of our country.  In the Bible, the Lord instructs us to pray for our leaders.  So whatever political party you support, let’s lay that aside right now and pray for wisdom, health and strength for those making national decisions right now.  Pray that each of these men and women in our Government will be kept strong and at peace as they navigate their way through this unprecedented time.  Pray that they will be aware of a higher hand guiding them in all they do.  Pray for an awareness of a supernatural God at work in their talks and plans.  Pray that they know they are not alone and that there are many of us standing with them.  Pray the same for all worldwide leaders at this time.
  • Pray too for the NHS and medical staff throughout the world at this time. Thousands of wonderful surgeons, doctors, nurses, care workers and medical administrators are putting themselves on the frontline at this moment in time.  This week I wrote to Sir Simon Stevens again to thank him for all he and his team are doing in this difficult time.  I thanked him for the wonderful NHS staff and told him we would be praying for him and everyone involved in the NHS at this time.  So, let’s pray for health, strength and wisdom for them all.  Again, please pray that they are protected from this virus and that they realise that as they work a higher hand is working with them to see this virus end.
  • I heard today as I was writing these prayer points that Prince Charles has the Coronavirus. Do pray for him and for the many people in our world who either have the virus or are concerned that they may get the virus.  Pray for healing for them all and pray too for supernatural visitations in ICU and that throughout this crisis, many will turn to God in prayer.
  • Pray for those who are vulnerable and who have to lock themselves away for 12 weeks. Pray that in the midst of this time, they will experience kindness from neighbours, family and friends.  Pray that they will be protected from the virus and that their physical and mental health would be strong.
  • Continue to pray for kindness to prevail. Ask God how you can help someone else.  If someone lives by themselves, call them, email them, Facetime them for a chat and find out if there is anything you can do to help our families, friends and neighbours.  Speak words of encouragement and joy.  Laughter is important at this time.  Send them something that will make them laugh.  Recommend a book, or a film that they can read/watch that is funny.
  • Pray for those who are worried about finances. Shop, pubs, restaurants, hotels, gyms, businesses have all closed.  The people who own these businesses will be worried.  Many self-employed people will be concerned about their income suddenly stopping.  Pray that somehow, they will have the provision they need.
  • Pray for those who are concerned over not only their physical health but also their mental health in a time when they cannot see friends, cannot attend the gym and cannot work. Pray that as they self-isolate that their mental health will improve rather than diminish.

Above all, pray for a miracle not just for the UK but for China, Italy, France, Spain and indeed the whole world.  Last week, I reminded you that when King George VI asked our nation to pray in Word War 2 – mighty miracles happened – we can see this happen again today.  We know we need a miracle from Heaven.  It says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that if my people who are called by my name humble and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.  We need to cry out to God for our nation and for the nations of the world.  We need God to heal our land. We need to see a miracle!  Pray for supernatural encounters.  Pray for the angels in Heaven to be released to help us at this time.  Pray, fast and seek God’s face at this time and let your prayers be like bullets in God’s gun, as it were, to shoot down this virus and see a miracle right here and right now!

Helpful instructions/suggestions:

  • Set your phone, your watch, your alarm clock or whatever to remind you to pray throughout the day. I would suggest praying every hour for a few minutes or for as long as you wish, but make a time that is suitable for yourself.
  • Every time you wash your hands which should be often – then pray a Heal Our Nation prayer – sing or speak the lyrics of Heal our Nation and ask God to pour out his Spirit on this land. Heal our Nation, Heal our Nation, Heal our Nation, pour out your Spirit on this land.  Sing or speak that twice.  And finish with the first line from the verse Lord we long for you to move in power – and ask God to move in the UK but also move in our world.  https://soundcloud.com/nancygoudie/heal-our-nation
  • Read Psalm 91, Psalm 121 and Psalm 46 at various points through the day. Strengthen yourself in the Lord with the words from these psalms.

We will win this battle.  This coronavirus has to retreat as we pray and Heaven moves.  Remember your prayers are powerful – no matter how weak you think they are!  Pray with faith.  Pray believing.  In the Bible it says that if we pray with a tiny seed of faith, we can move mountains.  We will see this mountain move – so let’s encourage each other and pray!

You are awesome – thank you  – NANCY GOUDIE

This Friday and every Friday – A National Day of Prayer

On Friday 20th March 2020, I arranged a National Day of Prayer where many people in this nation (UK) and many people in other nations prayed that God would, because of his great love for our world, in his grace and mercy stop this virus. I did this because one person asked me to co-ordinate a day where people could pray. I know there have been other days of prayer and that’s wonderful – the more people praying the better. However, another two people have now asked if I would co-ordinate a weekly day of prayer together with a prayer list so that people with a faith or even those without a faith can continue to ask God to move in great power. Our world is in crisis and I want to help and I’m sure you do too. One thing we can all do is to pray. We want to see this virus gone and life being restored. I believe that is what is on God’s heart too, and therefore we need to pray. Are you ready to take up the challenge to pray? Some people say, “I don’t know how to pray.” That’s okay – praying is simple – it’s just talking. We all know how to talk. The wonderful thing is God hears every small whisper. You can pray prayers like this: “God help us!” “God help my family.” “God if you are real be real to us now.” “God change the circumstances.” “God, forgive me and cleanse my land.” “God, I need you.” All these prayers are brilliant prayers and we can all do this. Whether you believe in a God, who is not only real but powerful and who loves us so much like I do, or not – the important thing is we all know we need outside help to help us at this time and who better than the all-knowing, all-seeing God. Let’s storm the heavens and implore him to come and heal our world. Let’s pray for our politicians and our medical teams. Let’s pray for those who have no one to help them in this crisis. Will you help me to moblise an army of people – with faith or with no faith – to pray? We are in a war and everyone needs to do their part. You may not be on the front line as it were like the doctors and nurses are, but we can be on the front line spiritually by praying and interceding for yourself, for your family, for your neighbours, for your nation and for our world. Let’s stand together. This Friday 27th March and every Friday let’s make it a National Day of Prayer and I will issue a list of things we can pray for every week. Are you with me? We can do this if we stand together. Please share this far and wide and make sure as you share it, you click on public post so that not only can your friends and family see it but everyone and anyone can – thank you! We are stronger together!

Daniel 9

Hope your prayer day is going well….every time I wash my hands I am praying my Heal our Nation prayer, but also I am stopping on the hour every hour to spend some time praying on my own or praying with the rest of ngm through FaceTime. We at ngm have just finished our 1pm prayer and we based our prayers on Daniel 9 – where Daniel prayed for his nation and asked God to forgive his nation for the things his nation had done. The wonderful thing is he did not pray – ‘they’ have done wrong – but he prayed ‘we’ have done wrong. He did not say ‘their’ wrong doings; he said ‘our’ wrong doings. He confessed on behalf of everyone including himself. Daniel went on to say this in verses 18b-19: “We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. Oh Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! Oh Lord hear and act! For your sake O my God do not delay….” let’s do the same. None of us deserve God’s grace and mercy – but because of his great love for each of us, let’s boldly approach our great and wonderful God and ask him to forgive us and heal our land.

Encouragement as you pray

Something to encourage you….as you pray! I was reminded this morning that today is the first day of spring. I didn’t know this when I asked the Lord which day to set aside as a National Day of Prayer, but God did. Spring brings hope and life and today as you pray see it as a seed planted in good ground that will bring forth in its time healing, wholeness, life and huge amounts of fruit. Wow!!! Lets keep praying. This morning I was on Premier Radio calling people to turn to God in prayer rather than being in fear and panic and encouraging them to use music – particularly Heal our Nation song written by my husband, Ray and others in Heartbeat in the 80’s. https://soundcloud.com/nancygoudie/heal-our-nation Then I spent time with my ngm family on FaceTime to pray for our nation. As a nation at this time we turn to God and ask for his grace and mercy not because we deserve it, because none of us do, but because He is a good God and he loves us so much. Lets see a spiritual spring start today!! Woohoo!

National Prayer Day- pointers

Prayer suggestions for Friday 20th March 2020.  If you don’t know how this call to prayer came about – then listen to a video I have done – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_w9dLCcSOY

  • Set your phone, your watch, your alarm clock or whatever to remind you to pray.
  • Read Psalm 91 at various points through the day. Read it in The Passion translation, the NIV or any other version you like, but imagine yourself speaking this over your family, friends, neighbours and of course yourself.

Prayer pointers for Friday 20th March 2020 as we come humbly before God asking for grace and mercy, knowing that he is a good God who is full of grace and love.  We know we don’t deserve his grace, but he freely gives to all who ask.  In fact, he encourages us in prayer to ask, seek and knock (Luke 11:9-13).  He also encourages us not to give up – so if at first, we don’t see an answer, let’s continue to pray and ask, seek and knock on Heaven’s door and believe that God will give us what we ask for (Luke 11:5-8).  In my own experience, it is often as I have looked back that I can see that from the first moment I prayed, God was working behind the scenes but I just couldn’t see it.  So, don’t get despondent, but continue to pray.  Also remember that God loves to turn difficult and horrible circumstances around for good (Romans 8:28) and therefore see this time as a time where we can show what our God is like and how he gives us peace and even joy in the middle of grief.  May this be a time when many turn to God and discover a God of salvation and healing.  Let’s believe for revival in our land.

  • Pray for a miracle. When King George VI asked our nation to pray in Word War 2 – miracles happened – we can see this happen again today.  We need a miracle from Heaven.
  • Pray for wisdom for ourselves, our family, friends, neighbours and also for the leaders of our country. Pray that our Government officials will have wisdom from Heaven.  Pray that they will recognise the need for a supernatural wisdom and also help beyond what even the greatest experts can give us.
  • Pray for medical experts across the world to find a medical remedy to this virus.
  • Pray for healing for those who are already infected. Pray for supernatural visitations in ICU and for many to turn to God in prayer.  Pray for the nurses and doctors and experts in the medical field that they would have health and strength and again have wisdom to find a medical solution to this problem.
  • Pray against panic and fear – someone said recently that panic and fear kill too, so let’s pray peace – the kind of peace which I have experienced since my husband died in 2016 – the peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7) – Jesus peace (John 14:27) and even joy for everyone.
  • Pray for kindness to prevail.  Look for people you can help yourself – neighbours who are needing someone to get some shopping for them etc., and also pray for kindness and generosity to be shown more in our nation.  A friend of mine recently bought some toilet paper and when she heard that someone had none, she gave them a large pack of toilet rolls that she had been able to purchase.  We need to show more kindness in these days rather than just thinking of ourselves.  Pray and ask God what you can do to practically help others – perhaps a phone call, a facetime or skype call, a letter, an email with words of encouragement and joy.  Laughter is a great fear basher…send something that you know they will laugh at – I have a book on laughter if you want to send a small book to encourage them to laugh in the midst of this crises- https://www.ngm.org.uk/product/the-gift-of-laughter/
  • Pray for those who are self-employed or who cannot work at present. Pray for those businesses, events etc., who are not able to have their usual custom.  It is a worrying time for everyone.  Pray against that stress.  Pray for those who could become isolated and lonely, especially the elderly or those who have to self-quarantine.  Pray that even in their loneliest or worrying times they will find a provision of Godly peace in their hearts.  Pray that many find God through this time.

Together we can pray and seek God and make a difference in our world.  Let’s do it with joy,  peace and conviction that every prayer however small is heard.

Thank you – NANCY GOUDIE

Incredible stories of transformation

What an incredible time we had at Windsor and Preston Spiritual Health Weekends – so many lives changed and transformed by the love and power of God.  So exciting.  So many stories of God’s unfailing love.  As many of you will know I pray over everyone’s names and ask God for a word for each person who books in.  What a joy it is to see the reaction from people when they have had their word read over them.  Many are in tears; many are excited and many are blown away with what God says.  I was told of one lady who is not a banquet type of lady but more someone who would settle for toast.  She told us she was fine with toast.  However, in her word, I told her that the Lord had spread a banquet for her and that she should not settle for toast.  God said to her – why would you settle for toast when I have prepared a huge banquet for you.  I didn’t know this lady – but God did!  Another lady was told that she had healing hands and a compassionate heart just like her Father in Heaven and that every day she gets to exercise those gifts.  What I didn’t know was that she was a GP who had always wondered if she was significant in what she does.  God gave her immense encouragement through that word.

If I can hear from God for others, then so can you.  Every day I sit and listen.  I ask God for a picture and he gives me a picture or an impression in my heart for many people I don’t know.  I only have their name in front of me.  I then write down from that picture what I believe God is saying and then I trust in him.  Each word is then put on a card and put into an envelope and at my weekends each person gets their special word from God read over them.

I remember one time a friend of mine told me, “Nancy, I don’t understand my word.  Every year when I get my word from God through you at the Spiritual Health Weekends, I am always so encouraged, but this year I don’t understand this word.”  The word said that even if the worst should happen, I will be with you. She told me, “I don’t want the worst to happen.”  I told her that perhaps I got the word from God wrong, but that I remembered writing it and felt so strongly that God had told me to write what I had written.  She filed it in her Bible and didn’t think about it again, until a few years later when she found that the worst had happened.  She was going through an awful storm.  When she cried out to God in her sorrow, she picked up her Bible and my word fell on to her lap.  She picked it up and read it again and it made complete sense.  It talked about how even when the worst happened (and it had) God would never leave her and how his arms were around her helping her to walk with healing and hope in her heart.  It was just what she needed to read at that time.

Each of us can be God’s voice and encouragement to others.  Let’s draw near to the Lord and ask him what he wants to say to others who are our friends or family.  Your word might just be the encouragement they need to hear.  I love the way that the Lord always encourages and builds others up – let’s make sure our words are doing the same.  God is so good.

A Story Of Provision

I heard a story today that encouraged me so much – so I thought I would pass it on to you.  If you need God to move in your finances, then get a hold of this story and pray it into your life too.  A couple who have seen God move supernaturally in their own finances started to pray for this to happen to others too.

A friend came to the husband for counsel on his finances and after encouraging him with stories of supernatural provision that he and his wife had seen, the husband then prayed that the same supernatural provision would defy all expectations.  That evening the person who came for counsel went to one of his friends to ask for a loan so that he could catch up with his mortgage payments.  The friend didn’t give him a loan – instead he gave him a love offering which completely paid off his mortgage and then gave him some extra for repairs to his car.  How wonderful is our God?  What he has done for others – he can do for you!

At another time the same couple were praying for someone who was in a tough situation.  The person who asked for prayer had a husband who was unable to work because he had been injured in a car accident.  The wife was a beautician and at the end of their prayers for healing for the husband, they prayed that she would have supernatural tips at work.  They lived in a small town but at the end of the week, the wife called them to say that on top of her normal tips, she received $500 from a single customer as a tip!  The next week, the same thing happened – a single customer gave her $500.  This happened four weeks in a row.  The following week, instead of calling the wife showed up at this couple’s home and said, “Guess what?”  The praying couple said, “Let us guess, another $500?”   “No.” she replied, “A single customer gave me a tip of $5000!”  Through the generosity of others, they did not lose their home or their car and the husband recovered quicker than the doctors had anticipated.  The tips covered everything they needed while he recovered.

Having lived by faith for my finances for 37 years, I know that God can and does provide.  What an amazing God we have!  Nothing is impossible.  Today if you are in need, let these stories bless and encourage you.  Trust in the God who loves you and has everything you need.  Go to him today and believe him for the miracle you need.  I release these testimonies over you in the name of Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Health Weekend Update

Last night I had the privilege of visiting our new venue for the Spiritual Health Weekends in Windsor with Zoe Wickham (ngm’s General Manager, my Spiritual Health Co-ordinator and my close friend).  It’s a glorious and beautiful venue with incredible facilities and amazing grounds and I cannot wait to show you around the hotel.  We were there to do ‘tasting’ evening, where we have to taste all the proposed food for the Spiritual Health Weekends.  It’s a difficult job – but someone has to do it!  Ha!  We were served with four starters, five main meals and four deserts plus wine, water and coffee.  All the food was delicious, but we had to choose two dishes as starters, three as mains, and two as deserts for the weekend in February.  It really was difficult because we loved them all, but eventually we managed to decide.  Our choice was to discern the best of the best.  We choose something that we thought was the most delicious food for the banquet meal on the Saturday night.  We choose with you in mind.  We reckoned if we loved it then you might just love it too.  Our desire was that you would be immensely blessed.

It reminded me of how God chooses the best for us.  He loves to give you the desires of your heart and loves you to feel surrounded with his many blessings. When we don’t know what to choose sometimes and we decide to leave the choice with him – we always know that what he chooses will be the very best for us.  I love leaving the choice of my future in his hands, because I know whatever that choice is will be the best of the best.

If you are attending my Spiritual Health Weekend – then I am not only longing to meet you, but am also looking forward to seeing all that God has planned for you.  Lives are encouraged, blessed and transformed at these weekends and I know this year at Preston and Windsor it will happen again.  If you have not yet booked into these weekends – then do so soon.  There are still spaces at both weekends but we do have to give any unsold rooms back at the beginning of December and from that point, we will only have a few rooms available.  To book in call the office on 01454 414880 or book online by clicking here.  I hope you can come and join us and enjoy seeing and eating the wonderful food that has been prepared for you, it’s a banquet fit for the princess you are!  I know because I have already sampled the many culinary delights ahead.

Luv Esther Update

I thought you would love to know a little of the journey we have been on with the new production of the musical Luv Esther.

As many of you will know, Luv Esther is a dynamic and powerful musical based on the biblical story of Esther.  It tells the story of Esther, a young refugee, a stranger in a strange land who stands up despite the real fear she faces and makes a huge difference in her nation.  This is a powerful story that carries a real challenge not only to the church today but also to our society.

In my book Luv Esther (published in 2006), I shared the story of how the show came in to being.  It was the summer of 2000, when Ray and I were on sabbatical that inspiration came to my husband.  As well as enjoying the rest and the sun, we were also searching God’s heart for the years ahead.  We had served Him for twenty years and had seen Him do so much, but what did God want for the years that lay ahead?  As Ray lay in the sun reading an autobiography by Tim Rice, which told the story of musicals such as Joseph and Jesus Christ Superstar, a seed of inspiration dropped into his heart.  He leaned over to me and said, “Do you think God could be calling me to write a musical?”  It sounded such a huge vision, but as we talked, we had no idea just how big a vision it was going to be.

From that day on the beach in the Algarve, it took until 2005 for the show to be birthed.  It was co-written by Ray and Murray Watts, with collaborations on the songs with various songwriters.  The show toured the UK to mainly sold out venues for a number of years.  During the first release of the show we saw many in the church challenged to stand up for such a time as this, but we also saw many churches use this show for pre-evangelism and we even saw some become Christians through it.  I know this show carries the heart of God for what is going on in our nation at this time.

Before Ray died in July 2016, he felt a clear call from God to begin to update and extend this wonderful show.  He had great joy in updating the script and writing several new songs.  During his last spell in hospital, he turned his room into his production office and spent time downloading his new script/songs to Murray.  I can clearly remember the excitement in his voice as he talked about the script and how he knew he had heard from God.

It’s taken over a year to progress from that meeting in the hospital to this new production being ready for the stage.  We were given a gift that covered all of the pre-production costs, we recruited the cast and crew, had a new set created for us and have undergone weeks of rehearsals and now we are taking this wonderful message from the book of Esther to a wider audience.  During rehearsals, we took the cast into the recording studios and have created a brand new cast recording to go alongside the tour, featuring some amazing vocals.  You can purchase it for yourself by clicking on this link.

It’s been a real privilege to see this production being birthed and as the producer of the show, I have had the pleasure of working with a very talented creative team, who have all brought energy and vitality to the table and helped create a truly lasting legacy.  We have had setbacks along the way, but my heart is full of gratitude to God for helping us to get this show on the road.  We are so thankful for Ray’s talent and creativity that lives on in this show and for the obvious anointing of God on it all.  Do join us in praying that many will be deeply impacted with the message of us all being called for such a time as this!

Check out our website for more dates/venues – please do go along and see it but also  do contact us if you’d be interested in bringing the show to your area.

The Miracle of Dunkirk

I am aware that the film Dunkirk was released this week in all the cinemas in the UK. Just recently I looked up in the internet about the story of the Miracle of Dunkirk. What I discovered was an amazing story of how God moved in response to prayer.

History tells us that on 10th May 1940 Hitler unleashed a military onslaught on France and Belgium. Within days the British and Allied troops found themselves with their backs to the sea hemmed in by their enemies. The German High Command was able to boast with confidence that their troops were proceeding to annihilate the British Army! Winston Churchill was considering how to announce an unprecedented military catastrophe involving the death or capture of a third of a million solders!

But it didn’t happen! On 23rd May, King George VI requested that the following Sunday should be turned into a national day of prayer! Late on the Saturday evening the military decision was taken to evacuate as many as possible of the Allied forces. On the Sunday, the nation devoted itself to prayer in an unprecedented way. Eyewitnesses and photographs confirm overflowing congregations in places of worship across the land. Long queues formed outside cathedrals. The same day an urgent request went out for boats of all sizes and shapes to cross the English Channel to rescue the besieged army, a call ultimately answered by around 800 vessels.

Yet even before the nation prayed God began to answer.

Three miracles occurred:

The first miracle
The first was that for some reason, which has never yet been fully explained, Hitler overruled his generals and halted the advance of his armoured columns at the very point when they could have proceeded to the British army’s annihilation. They were now only ten miles away! Later, Mr Churchill asserted in his memoirs that this was because Hitler undoubtedly believed ‘that his air superiority would be sufficient to prevent a large-scale evacuation by sea.’ That is very significant in terms of the second miracle.

The second miracle
A storm of unprecedented fury broke over Flanders on Tuesday, 28th May 1940 grounding the German Luftwaffe squadrons and enabling the British army formations, now eight to twelve miles from Dunkirk, to move up on foot to the coast in the darkness of the storm and the violence of the rain, with scarcely any interruption from aircraft, which were unable to operate in such turbulent conditions. Hitler had obviously not taken the weather into his reckoning, nor the One who speaks to the wind and the waves!

The third miracle
Despite the storm in Flanders, a great calm, such as has rarely been experienced, settled over the English Channel during the days which followed, and its waters became as still as a mill pond. It was this quite extraordinary calm which enabled a vast armada of little ships, big ships, warships, privately owned motor-cruisers from British rivers and estuaries – in fact, almost anything that would float – to ply back and forth in a desperate bid to rescue as many of our men as possible. Some might say it was all a coincidence but seemingly it wasn’t considered to be so at the time. Sunday 9th June was declared a National day of Thanksgiving and encouraged by Churchill himself, the phrase ‘the miracle of Dunkirk’ began to circulate.

It is so encouraging to read about God responding to such an outpouring of prayer. Three outstanding miracles happened, so let’s be encouraged when we pray to see God move again in our nation and in the nations of Europe. My prayer is that this small part of history will encourage and build up your faith whenever you pray. Let’s believe for extraordinary answers to our prayers. Our God can do anything you know, far more than we can ever imagine, guess or request in our wildest dreams (Ephesians 3:20 – The Message)
